Default AC compresor oil, how much?

My ac compressor, 7SB16C, has given up after almost 190,000 miles in my GS400.
The FSM states if replaced, condenser and evaporator both have 1.4 oz each.

My question is how much compressor oil (ND8) is in the system and how much of that does the the compressor hold?

Thanks

...here are my pressures;

Static pressure 125psi
no cooling at idle 700rpm
Low side at idle 125psi
High side at idle 125psi (yes, clutch is engaged)

slight cooling at 2000rpm with compressor noise
Low side gauge flutter 70-75psi
High side 200psi

Is that compressor or system capacity? I will have a look and verify when I pulled the compressor Friday.
I will also dump as much oil as I can out of the old one and measure that.

Thanks again

There was a sticker on the compressor and all it said for oil was ND-8.
I asked my supplier and he looked it up;

4.5-5 ounces for the whole system and 2 ounces in the compressor.

...anyway I spent a good part of today working on the AC.
Just got back from a test drive and its cold 38* at the vents

Here's what I do Frank. I drain the old compressor and measure that amt. If over 2oz then I add that same amt to the new compressor. If the amt out of the old unit is less than 2oz, then I add 2 oz to the new one. You did good. Good job.

Don't mean to rain on ur parade, but I hope you went ahead and replaced the drier also......only reason I say that is that after a reed valve failure like this, when the gauges flutter rapidly, it usually means that, internally the compressor has started to beat itself up, and very possibly has circulated fragments of metal throughout the system. And the drier stores oil and refrigerant. So it likely will have some remains of the old compressor inside it, and in turn will recirculate this crud when you install the new compressor.......I would suggest hooking up some gauges to it again in the near future to check if there is any fluctuation of the needles.

Best of luck, hope this is helpful

jhill20, that's very good advice.

The condenser was very easy to remove, I turned it upside down and replaced the dryer bag, and yes just as I suspected and you mentioned, there was just a few metal flakes on the lower part of the dryer, you had to look close.
I blew out the condenser and the lines and found no metal flakes.

I probably drove the car one to many times to work but I stopped driving it just in time.

Thanks for the look out...

glad u got it back in and working.sorry i couldnt have helped you earlier, i just dont have access to info on cars like that..did u put R134 back in it? i get low 30's off my vents....it feels great

i swear when we talked before frank in another post, i recommended a drier replacement and to blow out the lines for that exact reason jhill said..... if it wasnt you it was another person as I ALWAYS recommend a drier/expansion valve. its the proper way to do it...

I put r134a in...

Ok sakataj,
What is this refrigerant you are using? Is this a mix of r22 and 134a, propane, helium, and some NOx?

CAn you tell us about it?
