Default Need help.. Aftermarket radio install - can't get power

Hi i have a 2001 GS 430 with pioneer deck. i have most of the wires connected, but can't get power to the headunit.

The speaker connections i know i did right. I'm trying to get the Power, ACC, connections but it won't work.

I'm doing butt connections from the stock radio harness using the blue/yellow for power, and gray for ACC.

Can anybody help?

First pic is where i'm making the connections, second pic is a close up of the wire colors, and the 3rd pic is showing the original connectors before i cut one of them.

no power at all? what about ACC?
try powering the unit directly from the battery. as in + to + and - to -
see if the headunit is the culprit

why didn't you spend the extra money for a wiring harness?

i got the wiring harness for the speakers cables that come out of the factory amp.

ACC, Power, and Illumination (from what i understand) is just simple wire tapping from the harness that comes out of the factory radio

I've recently installed a head unit on my car. Those 2 connectors that you are showing are not it. The connector I used was a 6 pin one as shown on my pic here. It contains all the necessary wires to install an aftermarket deck. You're going to have to remove the wires from the connector and reposition them like I have here.

What kind of headunit u installing by the way?

i'm installing a kenwood dnx7100.

if u look at the 3rd pic i attached, you'll see the 2 plugs that came out of the stock radio.. it didn't have a 6 pin harness.

i'm starting to think the kenwood is dead.

Ok i have no idea what i did.. i just got fed up and decided to put everything together and drive it to a friends house. I turned on my car.. and it started working. No idea what happened..

Blue/yellow is power
gray is acc
and light green is dimm..

i had the correct connections all along.. must have been a loose wiring.

my metra Metra 70-1761 says:

Note: In 1998-2000 Lexus GS vehicles, these harnesses connect at the
amplifier location behind the passenger's side kickpanel. The 12 Volts
Constant power, chassis ground
and speaker wires must be lengthened in
order to reach the kickpanel area
. The power antenna and 12 Volts Switched
power leads must be spliced at the radio location.

Has anyone ran there harness this way and it worked? i have only the 12v switched and dimmer going into the 6 pin, constant power and ground going to amp harness in 10 pin. Ive already made my extended harness and dont want to take it part and re do after finding out it doesnt work
