Wood steering wheel question (I have been searching :) )

Wood steering wheel project - airestonia (Updates on page 3)
Hello,
I know this type of topic has been discussed a million times before and I have been searching before creating a new thread.
Hope you will not consider this to be OT.
Well here goes:
I have a 2001 gs300 and I've found a wood steering wheel from a 2003 and a 2004 Lexus ES.
Here are the pictures:
2003 ES:
2004 ES:
As far as I understood from reading through multiple other threads, 2001-2005 Lexus ES is supposed to have identical steering wheels right? Also a two-stage airbag, same shape of the airbag, same cruise controls and stuff. The only thing that it's lacking is the e-shift functionality, that I can simply ditch right?
If the above is correct does that mean that I can simply disconnect the battery, take off my airbag (disconnecting first the yellow then the black plugs), take off the wheel and put it all back but replacing the steering wheel with one from an ES, basically plug and play?!
Please write-up, if anyone is able to confirm this and can verify the procedure I could follow to safely swap out the steering wheels.
Thank you very much!

Here is the wooden wheel from the ES that is in a bad shape, but I can get it for like 50 bucks.
You think this damage can be repaired, I mean the crack on wood?
I haven't seen the other wheel I can buy, hope it's in better shape.
Can someone confirm if the face lift model of the 01 gs has the dual stage airbag or not? And how does it differ if the only thing I'm using is the steering wheel itself? It's about the connectors on metal frame right?
Thanks for the answers and hope for the future input guys!

Hey everyone!
Thanks for the previous reply.
I've got another offering and here's how it looks:
This guy has the wooden gear **** to offer as well. And he says that the stuff has been taken off the 2004 ES.
The leather looks black to me, what do you guys think?
Plus what do you think about these radio controls on the left side, would I be able to hook them up? Or they'd be useless?
BTW, the wood looks like a pretty good match to a GS one, doesn't it?

Either way, tomorrow I'm going there and am probably going for the cheaper one, that needs repairing, this way I'd at least try to color-match it to an original GS wood color.
BTW do any of you know of any other DIY other than BananaGS diy for redying the wood?
Thank you all in advance for taking time to answer on my thread!
