I was rear ended yesterday coming back from the bank. I am about to close on a house, go figure life throws another burden at me.

I have an appointment with the adjuster tomorrow.

The police and fireman that were talking to me said the car took the hit like a champ. The 89 Thunderbird that hit me didn't fare too well and its headlights were embedded into my bumper.

I'm not sure if I want the car totalled or not at this point, either way I want to keep driving it due to recently putting money into the car. The tires are less than a month old, I just changed the struts, bushings, timing belt, water pump this last december.

And thank you guys for the congrats on the house, its not an easy thing to buy out here in CA.

I had similar damage on my previous 2GS. I was hit so hard the rear doors didn't open anymore. I would want it totaled.

Sorry to hear this. That doesn't look too good... fenders took a hit, the chassis might have bent a little.

I know how you feel!! I just got my car back yesterday. Somebody did a hit & run while my car was parked in front of my house friday night. Woke up saturday to see my rear all messed up. Estimate was a lil more than $3,900 for mine. Expensive because the adjuster says Lexus doesnt make any aftermarket body parts so you'll have to go OEM (which i was happy about!). Parts alone were like 2k......but I'm glad to have my baby back!!

I hate cowards who leave the scene, I could never do that to somebody....

quarter panels are about $180... if you can find them, rear bumper is available after market for about the same, again if you can find them. I believe quarter panels are about $600-$800 each to replace. Then paint for it all thank God for insurance!

I got the estimate from the body shop my insurance company uses. The total parts estimate was $2024 and the labor estimate at $2770.50. After all the tax and charges the estimate came out to $5418.50. The body shop also said after taking the car apart there would likely be more damage found.

The estimate also showed some of the parts as "quality recycled part." I would like new parts, but it is possible on an older car they may not be able to get them.

looks like some body work since the rear door looks jammed in there. have the frame and the gas tank checked out too.
