Wow! Rippa that worked great! Totally forgot about this thread, and I had doubts as the guages didn't flash or blink when I did it. And pulled off for a frowned test drive lol.. and WALLAH it worked! Thanks buddy! Awesome Job!
Speaking of which I came on here because I might sell the lexus .. Anyone interested in a 98 GS400, Shaved Doors, Aqua Blue, 19" Rims, Body Kit, etc.. Got a few things it needs fixed, but mechanically it works/runs great. And it's definitely a head turner. Asking around $6999. That's less than I paid for the car a year ago, and barely put 500 miles on the car since then. And fixed a few things!

I'm having the same problem with my IS300. My p/s front abs sensor was cut when I bought the car, I've only had it for two weeks more or less and I have a dead speedo. Is the abs ssor at fault? Can I re-splice the wires for the sensor? PLZ help.

Open your hood. Locate the box in picture #1. Open the box as seen in picture #2. Remove the metal pin in the bottom inside of the box as seen in picture number 2. Take a wire cut on both ends and insert it into the two ports as seen in Picture #3 (notice pin is still in pic 3, it shouldn't be. Didn't feel like taking it out).
Go inside the car with the wire connected. Put key in ignition to on position but don't start car. Then pump the brake pedal rapidly for 5 seconds. You will see all your indash lights begin to flash on the dash. Take the key out. Turn the car on and drive it, hopefully your speedometer works. If not, then there is underlying sensor or wire issue.

I just wanted to add my experience to this thread and hopefully it will help others. I was working on a 1998 GS300 today. The speedometer/mileage was not working and the VSC/ABS/VSC OFF lights were illuminated.
I replaced the front left sensor and that fixed the speedometer/mileage problem, but the VSC/ABS/VSC OFF lights were still illuminated. I then replaced the front right sensor and that turned off the VSC/ABS/VSC OFF lights.

I just did mine tonight and it works! At least all the way up to about 60mph and then the needle drops. I have to restart the car to get the needle working again. My mileage is picking up where it left off when the needle wasnt working. Any ideas as to why its so intermittent? Could it be that I have a plain old bad intrument cluster? Maybe the needles loose?
