My 99 GS4 with Nakamichi had 4" all around. For the OP, the 4's are mounted in plastic enclosures and from what I've read most aftermarket 4's don't bolt up in the enclosure. If you're a little handy, it's not hard to make MDF baffles to fit 5 1/4" or 6 1/2" mids in there. There's some good discussion on this if you search. IMO you'll have much better results by upsizing.
The front is harder to put in anything above 6.5...the back door, you can almost put anything in there LOL.
Good point, my mids have an actual diameter of 7 1/4" and 3" mounting depth and they were a b****h to fit in the front door. The 5 1/4's I'm putting in the rear look to be a much easier fit. Gotta keep the stronger midbass in the front though.

Diameter size isn't the problem. It's mounting depth. I've been able to fit 8" mids in the doors before with no problem. My current 6.5" mids barely clears the window when it's rolled down.
