Default Cross-Section of GS Fuel Filter

With 207,000 on my 2000 GS300, I decided that even though Lexus says that you don’t need to replace the fuel filter, I decided it couldn’t hurt and went ahead and replaced the filter.

Thanks slickgt1 for the instructions, https://www.clublexus.com/forums/gs-...ge-how-to.html.

Once the old filter was out, I compared the new and old filters, and didn’t notice anything different except that when you peer down the hole of the new filter, there's a little piece of the white filter that you can see peeking out. You can’t appreciate how white it is in the picture, but it’s sparkling.

So I looked at the old filter. You can see the same piece of the filter, except that it’s brown.

I guess it does what its supposed to do...question is how restrictive is it at this point? and besides making the fuel pump work harder, any other issues ?

207,000 miles is alot mo matter what fuel you are using. and you cant replace "just " the fuel filter. it comes as a unit along with the fuel pump. expensive

Actually you can just replace the filter. I followed the directions from the link in my original post and didn't need to replaced the entire fuel pump. Filter only cost $40 from Sewell.

The filter on my '99 sc with 135k was changed a few weeks ago. I've been meaning to do the same this as you to see how dirty it actually is. What kinda saw did you use?

Hacksaw, went pretty smooth.

Post a pic when you're done. It would be interesting to see the difference between a filter at 135k and one at 207k.

I thought the filter looks like a white mesh bag?
