so when my foglight switch is in the "ON" position it flickers from on and off and i have to position the switch in the middle just for it to stay on. i'm thinking i just have to buy the whole headlight/foglight control thing. what is that actually called and what do you guys suggest?

It is called the light stalk. Try to get one used. They don't usually fail.

its a multi function switch. And yes they do go bad.

Yes mine went bad. Just the fog light portion of the switch. I had to fiddle with it to get them to stay on. Then they finally would only come on if you pressed the fog light portion toward the steering column. Its a $68 dollar part from Sewell including the Clublexus discount. It was like 4 or 5 screws to get it out including the steering column cover and takes less than 30 min to replace.
