Ohm rating for 10" ML subwoofer?
Here's the background: my dad has the GS300 with the ML/Nav option and unfortunately the stock sub blew. He took it to the shop and they sent it to a local audio place. This place installed a "Quantum S10" which I've never heard of, nor can I find any info on it, so I know it's pretty lame. Probably not meant for IB either. The way they attached it was to put some sheet metal screws through the deck so now those are sticking down into the trunk and barely grabbing the metal... Not good, not professional...
I just found out he did all this yesterday when my mom complained about the bass not being nearly as loud after the replacement. I'm pretty good with audio/electronics/mechanics so I thought I'd find a better replacement and maybe even install it with an mdf adapter. I'm pretty sure the replacement is 4 ohm and it would seem that it original would be a two ohm since increasing impedance would mean less output.
So could somebody please confirm that the stock 10" Mark Levinson subwoofer is 2-ohms? I have read that it was either 2 or 8 from another thread on this forum, but the information is conflicting. If it's 2 ohm I'll use this Elemental Designs sub that another member suggested. Dad wants this as stock as possible, so no adding an amp at this point.
Thanks everyone!
