Default On vacation, keys locked in trunk, Fahhhhh

So any ideas on getting keys out of trunk.

Packing the car to go home, wife pops trunk only, set keys in trunk while loading, closed trunk........... car locked trunk closed keys in it.

Lock smith came, opened car, alarm went off and trunk popper is locked. Started to pull rear seat, got bottom half, stuck on top half, then realized there may not be a pass thru in the unibody for me to get to the trunk area.

Please help with any ideas. Tried to call lexus, no answer. Bout to drive there and see if they are open.

theirs bolts behind the headrests in the rear seats. Than there's a metal bracket you'll have to remove and the trunk liner you will probably break..
Id try to go to lexus

i actually did this exact same thing on vacation over the summer........ not sure if you can get them the same way i did, but i have my factory sub removed so i just pulled the speaker cover off and fished them out of the sub hole

i guess you could always take the cover off and then remove the speaker and fish them out with a coat hanger

good luck!

Once you remove the back seat there should be enough room to reach your keeps. Take the bottom part of the seat out and then the back. The bottom seat, pull up on the front part and pull forward. The back, there are (4) 12 or 14mm bolts (two behind the headrests and two on the bottom which you will see one the bottom is removed). Good luck.

Thanks for the replies. I will look again for these head rest bolts. I have the 4 lower bolts removed, just havent found the upper ones yet.

The bad part, the trunk is friggin packed so I will have to dig thru the gear to the very back wear the keys are laying near the emrgency inside trunk release.

Thanks guys. If that doesnt work then tomorrow I will have my insurance tow it to lexus.

Peace
Jeremy

Ah just found t he bolts. They did a good job of hiding those things. The stiched leather lokks like you shouldnt pull on it. Takin off back seat now.

Thyanks again.

Thanks guys. Got er done. Pulled the seat and the bracing, used a prybar on the internal emergency release. Popped trunk re-assembled and done.

Guess my valet key will go everywhere with me now.

Any chance of getting something long through to the emergency release lever on the drivers side of the trunk lid?

Didn't see that you did that. I went out to my car to see what side it was on.

Valet key does not open trunk.

Best bet is to call Lexus and order another Master Key blade cut for your car. I've gotten mine for about $50.00 but have seen some places charge up to $113.00.

Now with the master key, simply use it to open your trunk!

Goodluck!

Cool

If you rarely/never valet your car like I won't do, then I would strongly recommend not locking the trunk popper. Then the valet key gets you in the car, and you can pop the trunk from there. Either way, another satisfied CL member, so good looking out, guys!

If you don't lock the trunk release, as I said, your valet key will be perfectly fine. Much cheaper to replace that if it is lost than a master, too.

I believe the trunk release is automatically locked out when the alarm is armed. This way if someone busts in the window, they can't get to the trunk even if the trunk lock is not enabled. At least I think thats how it is, I'll have to try it sometime to double check heh.
