00' GS400 Check Engine/VSC Light on
This car is starting to **** me off. I never had this much of a headache trying to diagnose a problem. I hate lexus.
Heres whats going on.
During a regular day of regular driving, nothing harsh. The throttle cuts out on me in the middle of the road. Check engine, VSC, and VSC OFF lights go on. Then the car will die. Start it back up, everythings back to normal and no check engine light.
Did my research online, and all i got was abunch of sensor problems. TPS, speed, yaw, abs ect is what they are telling me it could be.
The next day, we try to look into it deeper. Tired to start it, but it would die instantly. Like theres a vac leak. Checked wiring and hoses, nothing seems to be out of place.
Disconnect the batt, even tho i was told the ecu wont restart with this method, but whatever. Then the car starts up fine. Idles fine. We let it idle for 20mins to see if it will act up. Nothing, so we limp it down to shucks to scan the CEL. After dieing everytime it come to a stop. They scan it, no codes popped up. So i guess their pos scanner wont read as good as a lexus dealership scanner. So i go down to my old shop, use their scanner, and nothing came up.
After all that, i think it could be a faulty TPS. Cause during idle, everything is fine until you start to drive it. Then down the block, the throttle would cut. When i looked deeper into the TPS, i notice that during the throttle cut, it would idle below 1k. With 90% throttle, the engine fails to rev, until you go pass 90% and it would rev up like normal. So i check the throttle, noticed that when i open it with my hand, it wont rev until its past 90% throttle, then theres a slight resistance, and if i open it past the resistance, it would rev up.
I could be wrong, but all these symptoms tells me its the TPS, or something else thats interfering with the fuel delivery.
How do i test the TPS?! Lexus wants 110 to do a diagnosis, when my shop did it for 65 and couldnt come up with any codes.
Any help would be great, thanks.
