To anyone who's done this:

Do you really need 6 yards? I'm about to do my tan to black swap, and was thinking about do the headliner thing in Alcantara. That stuff is $$$, like $100 a yard. Don't know if I want to drop that much coin, versus just doing an ultrasuede.

Now if I could get by on significantly less yardage, then I might just pull the trigger. I <3 Alcantara!!!

Regardless the material, I'll almost certainly pay an upholstery shop to do the visors, and grab handles.

Love this thread, going to attempt this soon.

I think 2 yards would be more than enough

anyone EVER done more than just the headliner and the interior? and i mean like you did it, not some shop did it. i actually just started doing my suede interior today,i ended up starting in the trunk first BUT i'm having a hard time with the panels that are curved over the fender hump.anyone know how to get that middle done without a crease?i spent a hour on the panel and then removed the suede as i couldnt get the crease out no matter how i did it. i think gonna get a buddy who does interior to do it for me for me if i cant get it done

@Brian

What material are you using? Where'd you get it? How do you like it? I'm still on the fence about the alcantara.

just some regular black suede i got from a local fabric store, didnt wanna wait to have the ultra black shipped in and i wasnt gonna pay the price for the alcantara. i like it fine i just wish i knew how to get around those creases.

if you wanna ship it this place has a good selection

I'm smitten with the alcantara as well...but not with the price tag. You do have to make the small cuts on the edges every now and then to make it smooth out when you stretch it.

well, there is one of the problems. suede DOESN'T stretch at all, there is no stretch in the fabric which is one of the major problems with suede. im thinking of layering it cause my guy told me if i wanted it done, i would have to either have a seem sewn into it (which i was fine with) or layer it and for the 2 side pieces and one other piece he wanted almosted $350 for, i was like NAH im good

yeah that was a crazy price for 3 pieces....i met with a local member and friend last night and we discussed a few possibilities. im also gonna go see another guy i know who does interior work and get his thoughts/opinions/prices. OP had it easy with his work, all his stuff was MOSTLY flat i got all the stupid curved pieces.

WISH OP would ever come back and post some finished pics of his stuff also
