Default Fuel Light (How much farther)

This may have been may have been discussed here before...I searched but didn't see anything.

When your fuel light comes on, how many miles can you drive before the tank is empty and you run out of gas? I know that it's not a good practice to test this question by driving for too long after your fuel light does come on but I've always wondered just how far the GS would go.

Nearly EVERY TIME my warning light has come on, the fuel economy screen says I have approximately 40 miles remaining.

Once the light comes on, you have around 4 gal left in the tank. The warning light comes on very early. Keep in mind these cars have a 19gal tank. So in theory, you should still be able to travel around 60-80miles after the light comes on...don't ask me how I know lol

Well on most car's when light comes on, you would usually have about 20 miles left... but that's just what i've experience, depends on how u gas it.

this one time, i got about 50km (approx 35mi) before my car started to stutter while coming up a hill. caught me off guard. it was all city driving. like the above poster, it all depends on how you drive and where. lots of hills + in city =
i wouldnt drive more than 80km (50mi) with the gas light on.

Ive noticed too when you are lighter than your avg mpg on the throttle, the cruising range will actually remain the same despite traveling a few miles.

You have about 3-4 gallons left when the light comes on. Combine that with how how you average city/freeway mpg. I wouldnt push it past 50 miles though!

dont do it. the fuel keeps the pump cool, and if u use it all up, its gonna get hot and maybe overheat

Base on my experience everytime my gas lights on, I always fill 16.01gallons.
Per book maintenance state full tank is 19gallons, (19-16.0) you still got 3gals. I don't know how far can you get with that 3gals, cuz it depends on how
hard are you on the gas pedal.
