Default 03 dome light problem

Does anyone know why the front dome light will not come on when the front doors are opened. The switch is in the door position and still not working. the light will work when the switch is placed in the on position

thanks

May be the switch in the roof. Try flipping it back and forth a bunch of times and see if it fixes it. Sometimes they get to sticking. It would be unusual for 2 door computers to go up. Have you tried the rear doors. They should turn the light on too. If all the door don't, I'd say your problem is in the switch on the roof.

Did you figure this out? I have the same issue w/ my 2001 GS430 L tuned. The dome light has never worked when front doors are opened, the back one works fine. I even switched out the bulb and same result. I've messed around w/ the switch too, it turned on one time briefly for a few seconds, but nothing since. I gave up.

Any updates? I have had the same issue in my o1 GS3 for a while now. No dome light with the front doors. The light works with the switch in the 'on' position. The rear doors turn each rear over head light respecively. Does anyone else's rear door turn the main overhead front dome on? I have tried moving the switch and had the console apart, but no avail. Incidently my footwell courtesy light do not come on either. I could use some help with this, thanks!

Yeah - update finally. I just had my mechanic take a look into my dome light last weekend. Bad news: he said the computer that is connected to the dome light is dead / not working, and he did not recommend fixing it. He said it would be very expensive.

Damn. Oh well.

You can buy that computer used at billys used toyota and lexus parts. It's just a little black module less than the size of an index card.

Does that dome assy come w/ the computer? Everything works on mine, it's the computer that I need to replace. Got pics?

Thanks!

Sounds similar to the problem I'm having. All of the doors will light up the dome light but one - the rear driver side door. No lights come on when that door is opened - even the light in the gauge cluster won't turn on.
