Default GS300 in the Snow?

I am 16 and looking at what car to buy. I have found a 2000 GS300 for a decent price. My one concern is drivability in the winter. Since I live in northern NJ, the roads can get pretty slippery and I am unsure of the safety of having a rear wheel drive car in the snow. And is the IS300 also comparable to the GS300 in the snow? Thanks for any help!
