I am on the verge of new rims but I can't decide on size.

I think 19's look sweet but I am very concerned about bends. I don't want to buy 18's though and then be unhappy.

Or worse...has anyone bought 18's and "had" to go to 19's? I'm only doing this once.

Thanks for any input in this tough decision.

20's are definitely out.

this is a very personal opinion, ask yourself, if you are going to think about "should've gottan 19's", "wish I had 18's", either way!! then go with what you should've, wish had now! take in consideration of your wallet for fixing bends, or replacing tires..etc,

I've had 20's on my car and I went back down to 18"s.

IMO, The ride is noisy on rims bigger than 18"'s and the tire cost and bend risk increases exponentially.

19's IMO are PERFECT for looks and fit on GS's but they're almost a grand more in terms of price per rim (same type) and tire. Think about it, tire prices top off at no more than 400 on 18's but for 19's they go about 100 more EACH - because not all companies make 19's and they're less in demand. Plus, 19's cost at least 100 more each so there you got it, at least 800$ more for 1 inch + tax.
MOst importantly, treadwear is probably 30% less so that factored in for me. And, lets say you damage your rim, it's easier to find a 18" rim replacement in stock than a 19 so that's that...

IMO, drop the car enough to lose the cleavage and get nice enough rims with just the right offset and the car will look right.

My first rims on my gs were 18's and although I liked them something about them didnt look right to me.I then decided to switch to 19's and now am satisfied when I look at my car.As far as ride quality both seem the same, a liitle harsher than stock.As far as bends and all that stuff well where I live the roads are as bad as it gets and I have no regrets. Go with the 19's

Consider the following:

ride quality
road noise
local road conditions
tire costs
wheel costs
desired lip width (huh huh huh)
performance realted issues


Personallly, I feel like 19s are a good mix, obviously. Not so big that a few mods can offset the weight, and nicely compliment the size of the GS.

Also, different wheels look differently on the GS (duh); it was mentioned recently; something about the build of the lip, and the spokes, or something like that, where 18s can look bigger or smaller than they actually are....

IMO 20 inch is definetly the way to go but if I had to choose between 18 and 19 I say 19's these cars are tooo wide and
"bubbly" to put any smaller than 19.... I think you might be happier with the 19's... a benefit of 19's is that you could still put a nice size tire to give you a smoother ride and protect from bends...

I first started off with 17's then went to 19's and now 20's. My 20's ryde better than my 19's because they are 1/2" wider and a much better quality tire. So dont think its just the diameter that matters. If your worried about performance and pot holes. Go with some light 18's. If you want to show off a little get 19's. If you want to show off alot.....GET SOME DUBZ......hehe

I agree with what everybody has suggested so far. I've still got 18"'s on mine and I'm not too happy with the looks of it although I still think they're sweet cuz they're 3 peice and I've got pretty good lip BUT like Enginyr said, I have to pay attention to drive and maintenance which is why I "settled" for 18's. plus, they break better

HOWEVER, lookwise, I have seen 18's on GS's that really look like 19's. The TTE people say look bigger than 19's (because their spokes go all the way to the edge of the rims) and some rims with an inner lip like the Sebring ITC for example:

they have the spoke which goes to the edge of the rim AND an inner lip which makes the wheel look bigger than it really is. Couple that with some nice AVS sports or low profile tire and you have a decent ride, cheaper maintenance, and more financially feasiable rim.

oh yeah, if you wanna be a "baller", take enginyrs advice and go high polish 20" dubs with massive lip. They REAAAALY stand out

I don't know if these are your style, but here is an example of wheels that look bigger than they are. Jazziz has these on his silver GS, and everyone that has seen double checks the tire size because they swear they are 20's. So, if you find wheels that fall into this category, you can kind of have the best of both worlds... awesome looks and good ride.

I know everyone has opinions...just want to see if they are similar to mine.

The wheel I am most likely getting is the same on tinygs got (he got 19s). They are somewhat similar to the SS. Five spoke with the spokes going all the way out to a flat and fat lip. 2" front and 4" rear. Also, the 19's are only $200 more PER SET than 18s.

Mumbles...what size ss does Jazziz have?

Carlos...18-19's will be fine....we don't ball quite as hard in Houston as MIA.

Also have Supra TT calipers, rotors, and ebc pads waiting for that high disk.

As far as tires...I'm leaning toward S03s. 19s are about $40 more than the 18" counterpart. (245 and 275)

My honest opinion is that 20's ARE TOO SMALL for the GS...I really wish I had some 21" LD-1's....but I guess I'll save that for the next car.....
