Default P0171 Code Cleared!! Problem Solved!!!

I've had this code for a while, and narrowed it down to a broke vaccum line on this air box.

This box is very expensive. To the tune of $350.00. The problem is one of the vaccum ports broke off, and and the 171 code came on. To those of you that have this code, you have to take the engine cover off to see the broke line. Here you can see where it was broke off.

Another trick I guess you can do is JB Weld another port onto it, but I had alreldy ordered a new part before I realized I can do that. So now I am sharing the information.

I accidentally did the to my car, too! Return the part you bought if you still can... Drill/tap the hole, smear in some epoxy, and turn in a brass hose nipple. Works like a charm.

Problem not solved. I got the same code today. My next possible cause for this code has to be the MAF sensor. I've taken it off and cleaned it, and the code keeps coming back.

Make sure all your hoses are connected and are in good shape, clean your maf sensor, and also try a fuel injection and intake manifold cleaning.

I am sooo frustrated I cannot get this code to go away. It keeps coming back. I've swapped out the MAF sensor with another one, cleaned it with MAF cleaner, K&N OEM replacement air filter, what else can be causing this code?

Check really carefully for bad vacuum hoses. For me, it came down to a crack on the bottom of the PCV hose. I'd done maf, O2, etc. but it came down to that hose. You could have a leak at either end. If you havent changed your pcv valve, it could be that or a bad grommet. Get a spray bottle with soapy water, spray the hose connections, watch the bubbles and listen. I fought it for months and the pros never found the leak.
