Default LED highbeams

Sup CL, I installed some 9005 led highbeams from v-leds but I seem to have a problem even though I wired the relay that was included. I grounded it on the passanger side and hooked the power up to the drivers side plug.

Why cant I run the HIDs+Leds+Fogs? I dont like the 194 bulb so anything to get them out and have the Leds fulltime will be great. Any suggestions? Thanks. Pics are from a camera phone so excuse the quality

This is the 1st click, just the city lights -

This all the lights turned on, but my leds dont fire up-

This is with the highbeams enabled but my fogs dont turn on -

I might be wrong but....

Parking light is on when you turn the light knob one click to the " -" and anything past that (low beams)

DRL's are always on, until you turn on the low beams.

Fogs will go off when the high beams are activated.

one click on the stalk turns on the 194 bulbs.
DTRL 9005 bulbs turn on when you drive around town in the day with lights off.
fogs turn off when highbeams are on

I installed some kind of high power LED into my 194 and then defeated my DRLs (High beams still work though). It looks pretty cool, but I'm always up for new ideas. In the day I drive with the first click on, but it's a little hard to see them if it's really sunny out. Any better ideas?

I'm pretty sure the fogs are disabled when high-beams are activated on almost every car, but I like the look of the different tone lights on the inners from the outers. I was contemplating replacing my parking lights to make them whiter, but now I decided to keep them the way they are with the gold-ish tint.

I had the same issue with my IS
In which i replaced my High beams to V-LEDs
and since the HID FOGS wouldnt work with the factory harness
i switch the stock foglight switch to my high beam lights and the
fogs are on a separate switch.

That's the only way you can have lowbeam, highbeam and fog lights on at the same time.

but other than that the high beams cancel out the fog lights

I have the exact same harness/bulb set up you have. I installed the V-LED kit about two months ago. The harness is not meant to let you run headlight/fog/DRL at the same time. It's needed to properly light up the bulbs where a load is required, otherwise they will be very dim. I checked with the harness in place and the car idling, the bulbs are getting around 10 volts and with the hi-beams on they are supplied about 14 volts. They do state however that the bulbs are for show only, not enough light output to use as actual hi-beams. They still operate as regular DRL,but they give a nice clean HID look with the headlights off. My suggestion is to replace the 194 city light bulb with a LED version. I used the 4 LED "flank" bulb from V-LEDS. I just ran out and took some quick pix. I am uploading them now so give me a minute to post them.

Close up of 9005 DRL bulb and 194 City Light:

Car idling with DRL on:

DRL on and City light on (first click on switch):

Headlights on,DRL goes off:
The 194 Flank bulb is bright enough to give you the look i think you are trying to get. A night pic would have been better, but it's still light out. But you get the point. It lights up the whole housing at night (194) for that HID look to match the low beams. (yes someone hit my baby in a parking lot on the bumper/fender,side marker lens is broken)

Hi-beams on,fogs go off. There is a mod somewhere on the forum to wire up the fogs so they stay on with the hi-beams. I may give that a try some day. But it's not often i really use the hi-beams

Hope this helps!
Do they (DRL)light up at all with the engine on and all other lights off? (can't tell in your first pic if they are on because the city lights are so bright) If not,you may have an issue with the harness and/or the resistor.

@99GSThree: What are you using for your lows?

I would like to make sure that I understand. If I buy the harness with the resistor and the 68 smt LED unit I can use the DRL? The reason I ask is that I read elsewhere that if you use the LED units that they will not run at the 50% voltage supplied when the DRL are on. I would like to use the LEDs but I want high beams and DRLs. What's the best route to go? Also, are the LEDs bright enough as high beams?

I have a 5000k DDM slim kit and I love it, I just want the rest of the lights to match.

I am running a 6K HID kit in Lo-beams.
Yes,if you buy the harness w/resistor and LED bulbs you can use as DRL,that's the whole idea
If you run the LED bulbs w/out the harness and resistor, then yes, they will not light up properly. As stated previously, they are not bright enough for actual hi-beams. They do get 14V at high beams, but the LED's don't really "throw" the light like regular halogen bulbs.
