Un-hooked strange device from GPS antenna.. now I dont get AM/FM??
Hello all. I was looking to find out where some strange wires were going to that were sticking out of my console. I followed them up to behind the GPS. After I removed this box pictured below and put the antenna plug into the back of the GPS I don't get any AM/FM reception?? I know this box is not factory but what is it? Why does my AM/FM not work with out it??
Any help is appreciated.

I un-plugged then replugged all of the wireing harnesses. Tried it with it back on/off still not AM or FM. NO static or anything. I can get the AM audio screen to come up but no stations are populated and I will not scan the band. If I hit the FM button nothing. Tape says no tape in deck and CD works. GPS, trip info, climate control all work.
Is there a fuse for just the radio portion?
I have un hooked the battery and will wait for a couple of hours, maybe overnight to try and perform a reset...

That looks to be an RF switch, typcially used to switch an aftermarket satellite receiver directly into the RF input of your car radio, when the sat receiver is turned on. When the sat receiver is off, then the regular car antenna feeds the input to the car radio. What I don't understand about your original post is if this was in-line with the GPS input or the car radio input?

I think this was connected to the Radio Antenna for signal. Its some aftermarket device that is no longer used. I would assume its something with the Antenna connection on the rear of the radio why its not working. I would start with double checking to make sure its getting a good connection. In my car there are many fuses for the radio/cd/ect...its possible that a fuse blew but I really think its just the antenna wire not connected.

I have a 3 gen but the locations for fuses are:
Driver side foot well, Passenger side foot well, Trunk, and 2 locations under the hood.
My radio fuse(s) where, if I recall, on the Driver & Passenger locations. I think they are a 10amp fuse (red).
This may be different in your car.

Mike, I will go and check now.. Thank you sir!
Plus the weird thing is that its like the FM and AM buttons are disabled. You would think you would be able to get into that function but the radio would just scan and scan not picking up anything if the antenna was not hooked up??

IT WORKS> I had my car battery unplugged .75-1 hour. Found the 15AMP radio fuse which was fine, pulled it, plugged the battery back up. When I put the key to aux the gps screen was black. Turned key from aux to off, replaced fuse. Powered up and voilà!! I had radio functions again!!
Not sure if it was battery disconnect or the fuse or a combination of both.
Mike you rock!
Thanks!

Hmmm...this looks remarkably similar to the device that someone else took out of their vehicle. Perhaps this is a factory piece used for external equipment, and the external equipment was taken out prior to your ownership.
You can see what I'm talking about hyah!
Glad you got it working, but I'm interested to know what the difference is between a 5F and a 5G.

Yes it was for a form of satellite radio. The dealer I got it from must have wanted a quick and dirty way to hide the plug that goes into the satellite radio receiver. So they just snipped it.
Thanks for the link though.. I was wondering what the end looked like.
