Default shifter stuck in p

hey guys i encountered this problem yesterday. the vsc, abs, and vsc off lights came on when i was idleing. the shifter was stuck in park and my brake lights weren't working. so i changed out the stop fuse (fuse 15) and this seemed to cure the problem. but i drove it for about an hour and left the car ideling. after a few minutes the fuse blew out again. so earlier today i had to swap out another fuse. this seems to cure the problem but the fuses just keep going out. several times i swapped out the fuses and they would blow instantly when i pumped the brakes. any ideas?

also, the car is lowered and we swapped out 19s and put on 16s. do you guys think that the bigger tires on the 16s could have possibly done some damage to some wires?

Its not the wheels but possibly the installation of the wheels that caused damage to 1 or more of your abs sensors.
Did you swap at a tire shop or in your driveway?
what size tire is on the 16's? maybe it is too fat and rubbing something.

as for the park release switch, it might need to be replaced.

Its your brake light sensor/switch... its locate on the brake pedal or near it. It controls everything you just mention. Lights, Shifter etc

What he said, push the brake pedal and have someone look to see if the brake lights are coming on.

Sometimes the problems just go away for a wile... Brake lights and shifter work. But, when the fuse blows the shifter gets stuck and the brake lights no longer work.

well my question is howcome my stop fuse keeps getting blown out? i mean, everytime i replace it the car runs fine again, but the fuse will only last a few hours or sometimes a few minutes. can the brake sensor switch cause this?
