So I went to vacuum the gs yesterday and noticed the underside of the driver floor mat was wet and so was the carpet under it. Nothing else in the car is wet and I know its not leaking thru a window. My friend Brad whos actually a service manager at lexus says its prolly either the drain for the moonroof or the A/C , one of those might be clogged. Anyone ever had this happen ? It has been rainin alot lately but I have also used the A/C alot lately too. So what gives ? I have owned about 15 cars in my 17 years of owning cars and never seen anything like this. Very strange

u been around long time,search man..... there is currently a thread active on this and several that are archived. moon roof clog is main culprit but also could be a/c related

Make sure you have $1500.00 under the mat also... That is the repair bill for the AC condenser. Hold the rosary tight just in case the starter goes out this year also

I hope in your case that it is just a clogged drain tube.

$1500? I have the same problem. Mine is the A/C Condenser. And the dealer wants $3400

Not a drain for me. I snaked it with a wire and blew it out with an air compressor. Then pulled back the carpet and mat and dried it with a fan. I ran the A/C and the mat got wet again in about 30 minutes. I can see the rust on the bottom screw of the condenser case.

Hey, I can almost guarantee you it is a cracked heater core (heater box). The box is behind the radio and ash tray. When the A/C is on the coolant leaks into your floor board.

Last month I had mine removed and resealed in my GS430 for $935.00 at the dealer. I have had this problem in both my '99 GS300 and my '02 GS430 (I almost sold my 430 last month after discovering it.) I had it replaced 4 years ago in my GS300 at a cost b/c $1900 b/c they replaced the heater core instead of resealing which is cheaper and just as effective. Unfortunately the entire dash has to come out which is labor intensive.

It's the box. The box is glued together from the factory. Depending on the yr. of the car and where you live has alot too do with it when this happens. Like anything else in the car thats plastic it gets brittle with time and splits at the seams. I had the same problem with my 98GS about 4yrs ago. You might be better off just replacing the whole unit. Like AUGuy21, said before it's cheaper if your going too keep the car.

If it is the heater core. I don't think you would even be able to stand the smell of coolant inside your car.

Mine is only water. No coolant. Its still dry after re clearing the drain. Hopefully it will stay that way. $3400 is alot of money for one repair not to mention it is due for its 90K service in 1500 miles. Oh, and the starter is starting to flake out too.
