wheel hubcentric rings are a must. make sure they torque each lug nut in a star pattern...no air impacting. did you torque your lower ball joint nut to OEM specs? i'd also check the tires...since it may not be true round anymore...even with balancing. lastly would be the steering rack bushings.

Yes pete i torque everything to Specs.... i didnt buy a 150 snap on wrench for nothing
that just means u werent fixing the right problem sir. i did do a road force balance but man it wasnt cheap either and i cant imagine doing it every 5k. **** that....even if you did it at work and didnt have to pay for it, doing it so often would annoy me too! im thinking of the bushing next...even though i hardly ever notice this anymore
Thanks for the update... When I worked there, I would bring my car all the time, when I brought my car in, I pulled the wheels off if I had time. When I spun them up, they would be slightly off, can you explain that? The Road force would tell me the wheel is out of balance before it was removed from the machine. I even went as far as taking the tires off, measuring the rim runout and matching the tire up with the rim, where the machine told me to, all 4 rims are ok. I have even tried hand torquing all lug nuts, I've used a torque stick as well, neither last more than a 3k miles. I am not saying that my problem lies deeper than the wheels, I am just saying when that the wheels themselves had to be rebalanced pretty often. I have done countless balance and rotates at Toyota, I now how to use these Hunter machines with my eyes closed, I just haven't had any luck either with 16's or 17's on the GS. I have balanced 3 sets of GS wheels, and no matter what, after time the GS develops a steering wheel shake. Something is causing the tires to loose their balance after a few thousand miles. Like I said, I worked, there, it was free, and took me about 15 minutes for all 4 tires. I have replaced steering rack and sway bar bushings, the difference is noticeable, however it still likes to shake sometimes, but not all the time. I guess just some 2GS are just cursed with a wheel shake. Do OEM wheels need hub centric rings?
No, they are hubcentric wheels... assuming you are talking about the Lexus EOM that came with the car. Might wanna ask the wheel experts in the wheel section. It could be warped or something.
make sure wheels arent bent, check/replace ball joints...check tires make sure no flat spots or anything. i dunno mines 90% gone i barely notice it anymore. but i still wanna/will do the bushing soon

guys i duuno what else to do... I changed ball joints... control arm bushings not castor arm... i have hubcentric rings on my works and new Tie Rods.. This SHYT is Annoying... the vibration could be seen on my passenger seat when no one is sitting there... Im FEDup...
apparently i got lucky. i had the shakes really bad from around 60-65. read about a thousand threads about it and just figures with this happening to so many people that is was just a manufactures defect (the one side effect of owning this car (besides the lower ball joint)) then i got new tires about a month ago and did the wheel balancing and road force? done and now ihave NO shakes at all.
just got done road balancing my front two and my steering wheel shake and front of car shake is gone. My passenger seat still shakes but i think thats just due to being on 19's + 35's and feeling more of the road. Everyone should do road balancing first before changing out things imo. I got brand new tires a couple weeks ago + balance and today after my road force balance the guy said my new tires were off by 3.5 ounces.
update- its coming back it only shake now at high speed at around 65-70... what sjlex said i see my passenger seat shake like crazy when im by myself in the freeway... imma get my tires road balances again and pick up the hub rings tomorrow since i didnt have time today and see what happens... its really starting to piss me off alot =(
Changed out the rack bushings, ball joints, caster arm, wtf is next.......
Someone suggested on another thread of the type of lugs your using. If your using acorn lugs then you may want to bore your wheels to put on the lugcentric lugs. I'm in the same boat as you guys. I just got MRR HR2s and their shaking like crazy between 55-66. Its driving me nuts.
