Default Headlight courtesy chime

I noticed that with all my other cars, if the headlights are left on with the key out of the ignition, a buzzer is set off to remind the driver to turn off the lights. This, however; does not hold true for my GS430. Is this normal? Or is that the job of the little "green bulb" light on the dash?

I don't have that on my GS300 either. Once I left the lights on at the first notch (wedge bulbs on) overnight, and both bulbs exploded the next morning.

I'm surprised to hear the GS does not have a polite audible reminder that you left your lights on. My Acura has a nice chime but the BMW has the most annoying buzzer you can imagine! I think I'd rather have nothing at all than that thing!

There is no reason for a buzzer because your lights will be shot off automaticaly in about 30 seconds. Other cars will burn battery forever

GS300, your right my 470 turns off the lights automatically even if you have turned on the parking lights, even my 1993 GS did that, so I'd imagine all Lexus' do that...

Yep, mine turn off automatically too. However, dome lights stay on forever. Burned out 2 bulbs so far by leaving the light on!

Toyota has had that feature on their cars forever.

Why not use the C-Best setting on the GS?

I have my GS430 programmed to turn off the light automatically when the engine is off, with ignition key out and driver door opens.

I never had to turn off or on my headlight manually.

Chu,
I have my car setup the same way, I love it. I never once bother with the headlight switch Car goes on, headlights come on, car off, lights off as soon as I open my door. Love that C-Best setting

well on first generation GS as soon as you open your door with your engine off the headlights automatically turn off. but if you open your door before you turn off your engine it won't work.

C-Best feature are only found on GS300/400/430 from 98 and up. The first generation GS does not have this feature. Other Lexus models included are SC430, LS430, IS300 and I believe the new 2002 ES300.

The POWER of search!! My chime has stop so I would like to have that option back. Looks like it was programmed by previous owner with C-Best setting, but now it has stopped. I looked for a fuse named "chime" or "buzzer" but I couldn't find anything related to it.
