Well I don’t know if this was covered before or not but I been looking for a while now.

So this morning I decide to take my taillights off and try 2 rig up a 01 harness trying to save them 80$..So to my surprise all the bulbs fit directly on the 01 taillight except the reverse light. So I was thinking if they sell just pigtail of the reverse light just switch it with the 98-00 style pigtail and you just made yourn 01 harness. (im currently with no reverse)

This may not be new to the older members here on Cl but some of the new guys may find this help full. But nothing better then OEM thou quality.

if you find the reverse light then that will be an easy solution. It is definately something to look into, where can you order just the connector?

you can always find some universal ones and shave off some tabs to make it fit if thats not a problem, me personally i like everything to be oem fitted incase moisture and stuff builds up. ask Aliga and see if he has any salvaged gs's he can pull a plug or 2 off for ya. He usually has alot of SC parts but every now and then he comes up with a few GS's

Pepboy's has (or at least used to have) quite a selection or bulb pigtails. They may have one that fits.

isnt the plug the same as the side marker... same bulb rite, correct me if im wrong

The sidemarkers are 194 bulbs I believe, the reverse bulb on 01-05 is a 921 bulb

i forget who (olddog maybe?) or where but there was a thread on how to retrofit a 98-00 harness to a 01-05 taillight. but IIRC, the link for pics were broken.

Haha I agree, i bought my 01+ tails with the harness. Dont want to fuss with anything just plug in and play

wouldnt it just be cheaper/easier to buy the 01+ harness? and i'm with you'll i love the oem fitment...for nothing more than peace of mind!

hey,
to me the 01+ harness was just a good waste of $150 canadian dollars. so 2 years ago when i discovered the only different thing from the 98-00 harness was just the reverse plug, i went to canadian tire and found a plug that would fit into the reverse hole.
found one (there are plenty by the way).
snap/cut/chop/ old reverse plug off and then solder/electrical tape/ join the new plug to the where the old reverse plug was chopped off.....wholla.
all in all...20mins for everything. hardest part being unscrewing the tailights which on a scale of 1-10 with 10 being hard is a 0.5

$150 saved......well actually to spend on another mod...lol
