East Coast Shoot-out...
Update: ***Ok, so from talking to Dave and feedbacks from this thread, it looks like people are mistaken this is a event already planned. It has not and is simply a feeler thread. But for those who wish to come out and run their car as is, we can possibly rent out a track on a weekday and split up the cars to run in different groups depending on suspension modification. ***
Well, since spring time is coming up and before we know it, summer will be here. Therefore, I was thinking while browsing through the 2GS forum lately and have noticed alot of people trying to decide which coilover to select for their ride. The big question is which one is the best setup for a 2GS? Alot of people feel that big manufacturer such as Tein, JIC, HKS, and Cusco are the way to go while smaller manufacturer such as D2 Racing Sport, Megan Racing, Stance, and the other less well known brand are inferior to their counter part. Therefore, I'm taking this oportunity to invite all those who feel that their suspension setup is the best to take on the challenge at the next road course event. Some of the requirements needed to participate.
1.) Street legal car (Must retain all four seats, door panels, AC and heating system, and Dash)
2.) Street DOT tires only. (No R-compound or slicks)
3.) Wheel sizes and width cannot exceed 18 in. in size and 10 in. in width.
4.) Car must pass tech inspection and safety inspection at track.
5.) power is limited to 300 rwhp. (Doesn't matter if your car is a GS4XX or GS300)
So who's ready to stand up to the challenge? You know for sure that you can count me in.

I agree with you on this issue, but tires doesn't neccesarily make the driver go fast it's his skills and suspension balance that is going to make him go faster. I've annihilate plenty of guys with R-compound tires on the track while running nothing but street tires. I personally like to run Kumho MX, and Falken RT-615. But this time around, I'm gonna be running Toyo's newest tire which is called the R1R.

This is something that I've been planning in my head for quite some time now. It is very rare to even see a 2GS on a track at all.. The last time I've seen one on the track was when team lexus raced their GS400. Other than that, there are a few aristo's drifting around in japan. I say let United States unite and show the world what potential these cars can do on the track.

I am not looking into auto X ing my car but you are absolutely right it would be difficult on 19s but as the only tires and wheels that I have in 18"s would be snow tires I doubt that it would be any better. Good luck with this challenge. Would like to see video clips.

and R1R...dude, those would last a summer of autox and they'd be done. T1R is less sticky but gives a LOT longer life and traction in wet. I miss mine .
