Replacing headlight bulbs

Replacing headlight bulbs
On the drivers side both the HID bulb and the little wedge bulb burnt out a couple of weeks ago. Actually the wedge was burnt out several weeks before the HID. Anyway I tried to change the HID with a spare used one I had a couple of weeks ago and after much struggling I managed to break the used bulb. I ordered a couple of "Philips" D2R of Ebay and I managed to install one into the drivers side with relative ease. Well easier than the first time when I broke the bulb.
My problem is now with the wedge bulb. I have managed to twist and loosen the connector but I just can't seem to pull the loosened socket out of the headlight housing. Has anyone else experienced this? I have tried to grab a hold of the connector with vice grips and pull back towards the firewall but it won't come out. I also tried to pry it back using a long screwdriver and still no luck. I have an old broken headlight housing which I studied carefully and in fact even with that one it is no easy task to pull the bulb socket out of the headlight housing. Anybody got any suggestions for this.

i experience the same issue when trying to replace my wedge bulb, and i ended up breaking it.. for me it was putting it back on that was the issue, i couldn't turn it properly, that thing is damn near impossible to get to... anyway, i needed to replace the headlight due to moisture problems so i wasn't THAT mad.. but still its pretty tough to maneuver in there.
I'm curious to see if anyone else has any good ideas as to how to replace these bulbs, over than removing the headlight lol.

Which side of the headlight are you guys talking about?..I know the left side is a bit struggle to get it out or in. What you need to do is remove the box behind the headlight I had the same issue when trying to replace the wedge bulb on my GS430..

i haven't had any issues personally with my car but i did on a customer's car a while back. i used a bent nose pair of pliers similar to this one
you just have to find the sweet spot with the grooves on the housing and the socket. if i remember correctly there is one prong that is slightly larger than the others and that is what tends to make them break when not inserted or rotated out correctly
