yes GS400's come with D2R's... what some places r doing when u order bulbs.. they are giving ppl D2S's .. i had it happen to me.. n the guy said .. "ppl like them cuz they provide more output" (in reality.. there is a shield that isnt on the D2S bulb that the housing of the GS needs so it doesnt scatter the light n blind ppl) not only that.. but the D2S wont fit properly until you manually cut out a piece of plastic so that it fits in good. i returned mine n told the guy that i ordered D2R n that if i wanted D2S that i would have ordered it, n not to make that assumption to other customers in the future... so i would return them if i were you... those arent what were made for the GS... n you shouldnt have to pay for shipping them back!

not necessarily cheap bro, a good set of bulbs will run you at least a buck 25, if not more.

I like the 6000k D2R/D2S from PIAA. It's a bit pricey thought but it cool..

I broke the bulb... I guess it wasn't a perfect fit. I should be using d2r? I have the 2001 gs430.

The reason it was so difficult for me was one major mistake. I unscrew the screws...took me forever to put it back on. DO NOT UNSCREW ANYTHING!! my mistake, your gain

It's really simple to do really (after broken bulb and rescrewing everything back on). Next time should be a 30 minute job - at the most. The most difficult job was removing the damn cover and putting it back on!

live and learn.

btw. v-led claims 3200 lumens on their 4300k bulbs and up! I think it's an error on their part. If not, it's the brightest bulb I've seen so far.

Default Thank you for posting this!

Thanks to the O.P. for creating this thread and including pics. You saved me a heckuva lot of time letting me know what to do and b/c of that I had these done in about 10 minutes.

I will say that those gray plastic covers are indeed a pain...hardest part in my opinion, particularly b/c I have large hands (I can palm a basketball if that gives you an idea!) and it was difficult to squeeze my fingers/hand down the driver side. Small hands are a definite plus!!

Thanks again!

Is it similar to install the HID kit on the gs300. Is there a tutorial or directions for that anywhere. I think i have a 99' and it didnt come with stock HID's so it prob wont be as easy as a plain replacement correct? I was just wondering how similar that was and if there are directions for that, or is it pretty straight forward. I ordered a kit, just got some 6000k's
