Okay, last week I replaced my ball joints myself. I had a hard time separating the ball joint from the steering knuckle on the passenger side. But eventually got it off and replaced. When I go to start up the car, ABS light comes on. (The VSC and VSC OFF were also on, but they were on before all of this and it is related to the P1349 code.) Okay, so I think to myself, I must have knocked something loose or messed up the ABS sensor. In any case, I take it into the local Lexus dealer, which some of you may remember, I don't like this place. I usually drive 100 miles north to Charlotte to get all work done that I can't do myself.

So the lady calls me up and says, your car threw out 6 codes and our techs have determined that it would cost more than the value of the car to do any work on it. (side note: last time I took my car to this place, they said I needed the engine replaced. That was about 4 years ago and about 100,000 miles). I told the lady to just give me the codes, I'll get it fixed somewhere else. These are the codes she gave me.

C0200 -- Right Front Wheel Sensor Fault

C1201 -- ABS Inlet Valve Coil LF Circuit Short To Ground

C1223 -- ABS System Fault

C1241 -- ABS Hydraulic Pressure Differential Switch Input Short Circuit To Ground

P0430 -- Catalyst System Efficiency Below Threshold Bank 2

P1349 -- VVT System malfunction

The last code I had last year and Rick Hendrick fixed it. Hopefully, they will warrenty their work and fix that for me for free or little to nothing. The other codes (except for the P0430) are exactly what I expected. Something to do with the ABS sensor. Which from reading on CL, shouldn't cost over $7,000 (value of the car). I see the sensor should only cost about $200.00 and looks like a DIY job.

I got to put them on blast again. Jim Hudson Lexus of Columbia's service department SUCKS!

I can't believe I just bought that IS250 from them about a month ago.

damn ... sorry to hear about these codes man ... My thread is about my car being dead so good luck DIY jobs and save that money

Have you physically checked the sensor yourself yet? if there is obvious damage to it I would get that fixed first and then clear all the codes then see which ones come back.

I'm pretty sure the sensor is probably messed up internally. To separate the ball joint from the steering knuckle, I used a separator and a hammer. I was beating the crap out of it to get it off. I knew after 3 hours that I must have damaged something else. So it may not have physical damage but I'm sure there's internal damage. I just called Carson, they have the part for $181.75. My dealer here said $215.00 and that is with my friends discount. I have to call Rick Hendrick tomorrow anyway, so i will see what they want for it.

BTW: Can we get the discount back at Rick Hendrick in Charlotte? I miss that. DaveGS can you hook us up again?
