Default Under car engine splash shield

While driving in chicago yesterday my shield came loose and then when under the car. Safe to say its a wrap on that one. I have been looking for a new one online cause dealer says 400 for a new one (no sir). Can't find it anywhere. Has anyone every replaced one for a 02 430? If so can you point me to a nice link.

thanks

i need to replace mine too, because the ******* at the Valvoline oil change place forgot to screw it back up when they were finished with my last oil change. and by the time i noticed it, the screw hole was scraped away. there is no way that i will pay 400 dollars for a new one either. Too bad i've never seen a 2GS at a junk yard.

The previous owner, or his service shop, took a razor blade to mine so that they could service the oil and filter without removing it . I am curious if the big hole down there adds to wind noise while driving. Probobly costing me .23598 HP Dang now I need a replacement too.

Ohhh boy, Im probably going to get hit with a few comments as to why an old thread has been brought to life...

But I was wondering what is the main purpose of the 'under engine cover' ?

Is it a must have / item to be replaced if damaged ?

For turbo'd cars isnt it better NOT to have the cover in order to let more air in the
engine bay ?

thanks

It actually aids engine cooling by preventing "high pressure" under car air from coming into the engine bay and somewhat restricting flow through the radiator. It also helps to keep water out of the engine bay. It is a functional and not just cosmetic piece.
