Sub box and rear seat belt box
Just wondering on how you guys got over the big black box in the middle of the rear shelf where the seat belt wraps up into?
I've already got a sub box that i've had in my last 2 cars with the Alpine Type-R sub in,and want to use it again.
It clears it height wise, but length wise the black box where the middle rear belt wraps into is causing a block, anyway around this?

That black box is the middle seat belt assembly. Like what GSteg said, if you don't use your middle seat, you can remove that seat belt, but other than that, you have to build a custom box or lose the seat belt.

You should be able to take a chunk out of your sub box to clear the seat belt cover. If you don't have the wood working tools most decent audio shops should be able to handle it for you. Its a small box so it should not affect your box tuning too much.

i think i've decided on making a false floor for the boot now anyway, also ordered 2 set of Alpine Type-R components today, now need to go buy some MDF and make speaker mounts up,then onto getting the wiring sorted!
And i very rarely have more than 4 people in the car at a time anyway

just build your box to fit below that part.. you dont want your box goin all the way up to the top anyway. otherwise you would block any bass tryin to get into the cabin from the hole of where the old sub was. the lil seatbelt thing holds the box in place.. never had my box movin around..

i pulled the factory sub out as well as the middle seat belt today. I would have thought the factory sub would have been higher quality than it was. my amps mount on top of the box with plenty of room now

i'm going to use the exisiting box for now that i've got and mount it elsewhere, and then get another custom box made i think,i removed the black cover and it made no difference to me at all

yeah build your own box. it is the only way around it. i have built several for the 2gs for friends and clients just to avoid the hump and the seat belt cover.
my trunk
some fun with leds
a gs400 trunk with daily driving in mind - plenty of room for groceries
beauty board installed to hide the box and wires

those are some nice installs there!
well i got my mate coming down tomorrow,my components are also going to be here tomorrow so i'll be getting those wired up while he sorts out the box for me,i think i'm just going to make another up now instead of waiting a few weeks, only cost about £15 of wood at the max
