Got these parts from sewell:
1 Outer Tie Rod Set
1 Lexus Oil Filter
1 GASKET (FOR OIL PAN DRAIN PLUG)
1 Lexus Cabin Air Filter
1 Lexus Engine Air Filter
2 Brake Fluid
1 Toyota Antifreeze (Red)
1 Timing Belt
1 Idler
1 PUMP ASSY, WATER

the local car shop estimated around $900 labor on these...it's basically a 90k service minus a few...now is the price decent? or too much?

AND that same place would fix the rear main seal leaking oil problem, they said it would cost around $600 - $650, again, is the price alright?

it would be great to hear from people who actually have had these parts done at a shop/mechanic. Thanks!

You can definitely change out the air filters on your own.
Can you change your own oil? If you can, you should be able to change your own radiator coolant. That price seems way too high IMO.

for me this price is way expensive. $900 labor, plus parts around $500. how much you are going to spend totally? i won't spend more than $1100 on these job. find more shops and compare the price. I live in southern california. for sure i can find a price lower than that. Not sure about what is price range in your area. BTW 1 Lexus Cabin Air Filter 1 Lexus Engine Air Filter are DIY job. oh i changed the cabin air filter already. is there a DIY tutorial that can guide me through on the other part?

unfortunately, i live in bloomington, IN, a very small town. there is a local mechanic who works on european cars for many years, his labor charges ain't that expensive. i think i'll just take it to him instead of the shop...which is right behind BestBuy, i think they over charge...and my car is not in the condition of driving no high way, or else i could go up to indianapolis.

Timing belt idler is not a easy DIY job. It's part of the timing belt job. Now, the accessory belt tensioner/idler is a easy DIY job which only involves removing the belt and 3 bolts.

I did that whole list for someone for $700 two weeks ago. I also did the cam seals, front main seal, and spark plugs. AND that was including parts. I'm sure if you look around you can find a weekend/backyard mechanic that will be willing to do the job for cheap. Just make sure they have a decent reputation and KNOW what they are doing. Setting the VVTi timing is what most people screw up on(even shops) if they aren't familiar how it works.

hey guys, I just got these done for $300 total in labor. Not bad huh?
After this, the steering wheel feels harder/tighter for some reason. Almost like a bmw steering wheel. doesn't feel like a lexus which should have very smooth steering...is this normal?...
