Replacement Hi Lo beam bulbs with aftermarket Halo headlights
Hi there, just got some CCFL halo (angel eyes) headlights for my 02 GS300.
ordered them off ebay from k2motors.com
Here's what they look like:
http://www.k2motor.com/3lhpgs30098ks.html
I was suprised when I got them to realize that the bulbs for the hi and low beam (not the halo) are different than the stock 9005 and 9006 bulbs used in my OEM headlights.
They don't look standard (it's not your typical sylvania or philips type where you twist and pull it out to replace it). It has a bulb with wires coming out of it end the end of the wires has the harness to connect to the plug that you would normally just connect to your 9005 or 9006 bulbs.
The bulbs included aren't as bright or white as my Silverstars. I guess the halos make up for it.
Without doing any retrofitting (I'm just a plug 'n' play kind of person) to use my standard 9005 or 9006, does anyone know what type of bulbs I can use to replace them if or when they burn out? the seller is just a distributor, does not have any info about this.
Or if I can somehow replace them to get a brighter, whiter look?
I'm now thinking I may have just stuck with my OEM headlights that were pretty bright and white with my silverstars and Polarg M6 parking lights.
Thanks.

i think that is a H3 bulb you got in your low beam! just buy some h3 pnp hid kit or something
just look on ebay you can get a d2s kit for like 80 bux now but just dont get anything higher then a 6000k kit! any K higher would just be plain garbage!!

Although looking just to swap bulbs rather than install more stuff (even though that kit does look pretty straightforward).
how do I know if my bulb in the new headlight assembly I have is an H3 or not?

Ok, so I took a good look at the bulbs and this is what I found:
the low beams are H7
the high beams are H1.
Took them both out, unplugged them to double check and cross referenced with pictures on the web.
Strangely, the headlight housing says for the low beam "02L or HB4"
and for the hi beam says "HB3"
But for sure the bulbs that came with these aftermarket lights are H7 and H1
I read some other forums and I guess there's a lot of variability to what bulbs can be used even with the same headlights.
So someone else may order a 2nd gen GS CCFL halo set and require totally different bulbs.
Well, just giving people a heads up. The company I ordered from had no idea.
I guess I'll be selling my silverstar 9005's and 9006's since I won't need them anymore!
