Ticking noise behind cluster, HELP!!??!!
I have a very strange noise occuring in my 1998 GS400. A lot of times there is a random ticking noise that sounds like it is coming from behing the instrument cluster. It doesnt have a rythym and occurs sporatically, lasting anywhere from a few random ticks to ticking the entire trip. The sound is not affected by vehicle dynamics (does it when stopped, stopping, driving, accelerating, turning, all sorts of times) The sound is also not changed when the A/c is turned on or off or when the blower fan is on or off. The noise is about to drive me insane but I cant for the life of me figure out what could be causing it. Any info would be greatly appreciated.

I had similar problem with my gs3 2001. The problem was just in detached wire that connected to back of instrument cluster (as seems to odometer). I have attached that wire to main wire train. And no noise anymore. So remove Instrument cluster and try to play with wires. May be that your case too.
