Default HELP - Lost My Key!!

My wife somehow lost the only key that can start the car, the only left is a wallet key. Called the dealer, they told me I have to tow the car to them to change the computer and program a new set keys, they said that the only to get a new key w/o chaging the computer is to have a master key to get the electronic key code. The car was fitted with a VIPER alarm which has remote start that had stored the key code in a DEI 555X Bypass Module. Can anyone tell me if there is a easier way to get a replacemet key for my car or is there a way to get code from the DEI 555X Bypass Module to programa new key.

I once locked my master key in my trunk and had to drive home with the valet key. I went to the dealer with just the VIN and they cut me a new key. IF I remember correctly I then programmed it to the ignition using the instructions off this site (easily found by searching). I have not programmed them to the doors yet since I got my other master out of the truck already.

This may be an option for you.

What year GS300 do you have, also was he able to reprogram the ECU without the master key, because, according to the dealer, all 98-2000 lexus GS300 ECU cannot be reprogrammed to a new set of keys without having at 1 of the original keys. Can anyone confirm this?

Thumbs up This is easy cuz i had to do the same

Tell them that you need the original key "Without the code from the key" (Basically the original key without the buttons). Use that key to open the trunk and PRESTO!! you got your original key out of the trunk. Shouldn't be more then $80

Problem resolved, My car is no longer a brick. YAY!!! I had a tow truck come for my car to take it to the dealer to get the computer replaced, (FREE but 1 weeks - 10 day wait) and get 2 new keys @ $235.00 each plus labour, however, when the tow truck guy came and asked what was wrong with car, I told him i lost the keys, he was like y am i taking it the dealer he knows a locksmith that can get me my car back in 2 hours, I told him that the dealer said 98-2000 computers cannot be reprogrammed to new keys so he called his locksmith guy and he said he could do it. I was a bit skeptical, but when we got to the locksmith he showed me some printout from his reprogramming software that listed my year car are reprogrammable, in all it cost me $500.00 for reprogramming the ECU, 2 master keys and a new Viper 791 alarm remote which was lost with the key.
