DIY – GS300 – clear tails – amber removal
#123
Its funny you say that because I bought the plastic pry tools thinking that I would use them because they are a softer than a screwdriver but when I tried to put leverage on they just bent like a damn twizzler. But once I got the lens started with the screwdriver I did end up using the pry tool to hold a little separating pressure on the lense while I pried with the screwdriver.
But if I was going to do this again, and I will, I would just use a dremmel.
Ill throw this up for all the peeps who want to know what a light smoke would look like on these tails.

Bake method turns out way cleaner as far as sealing them back up, the dremel method is horrible imo. I broke my first set doing the bake method, its verrrrrrry tedious and takes a lot of patients. All together, its not as simple as most would think if you want a clean, factory look.

my clear strip looks somewhat pink when the sun hits it at certain angles... does anyone else have this problem???
the red bleeds into the clear or... the chrome housing is not flush with the clear strip and a small amount of red is reflecting off the chrome part.

I did mine a couple of weeks ago..
With the age of the cars now I think if youre gunna go for this dont expect the lenses to come off without putting in a bit of effort and maybe getting a couple of hairline cracks in your lense for your troubles
I resealed with some black silicone and when the unit is refitted to the car you cant see the hairline cracks.. or two.
Only thing is, the clear section has a slight pinky haze to it fromt the rest of the red lense!? Oh well, still looks waaaaay better!
