I run regular on my 3-4 hour cruising trips to save cash but always 91 otherwise.

Jeff, I understand what you are saying and agree with you. However, lets say you have to pass someone and "step on it", wouldn't your car stutter when it tries to boost? That's the problem I faced when regular fuel was put into my turbo DSM. Anyway, if it works for anyone using regular, more power to you guys. But then again, it's only $5 extra dollars to use premium

I have eased off the gas cuz of the gas prices and all but I'm still putting in premium or sometimes 93. I need my car to accelerate smoothly like in the example you gave.

I've always used 93 octane fuel in my GS4.. I guess one way to get the benefit of a higher octane gasoline and save cash in your pockets is to add a bottle of 104 octane boost every fill up (just an idea).. You guys drive premium vehicles though.. Don't penny pinch

if you don't need all the power out of your engine, use 87. if you like to floor th throttle and run it to redline sometimes, use premium, it will get you the power the engine was designed to make.

i use, 93- when i had my maxima my friend borrowed it for a day or 2, and i he put regular gas in it, after a week i got 2 bad sensors and a knock, i was pissed off, but i wont put any lower grade gas on my lex and risking something for over 5$. i also have noticed i used to get better MPG on 93 compared to 91 on my maxima..my advice use the 93, but dont stomp on the car and you should get decent MPG

It's actually fine up to around 1-2psi with regular by itself. If need be, I have a methanol injection system that will raise 87 octane up to around 97-98oct on demand if need be. I have knock control with the AEM and it seems to stay within acceptable range around 3-4psi on 87 alone. With methanol spraying on regular, I've taken it up to 15psi before with no knock lol With 93 octane pump + methanol, it effictively raises the final octane level to around 106-108 or so and I can run relatively safe up to 24psi.

BTW: A gallon of 50/50 methanol mix is only like $1.50 and it lasts a good week or so for me.

Northern Cali prices are well over 4 $ each gallon and I spend alot on gas .. but Its life .. I will always put premium in my Gs400 ... No reason to be cheap .. one time I had someone put unleaded in it and I noticed the drag and idles funny... bought some tank treatment and it was coo ..

IMO

that car is my pride and joy and have had no issues really with it soo ..

The 528i is the daily .. Unleaded .. all day

^^This is true.. The motor in the new 306 hp Caddy CTS has an 11:3:1 compression ratio that was designed to run on premium and/or regular (higher cr than both v8 GS's). The only production hcr motor I know to run on regular.. Use premium fuel if you guys want max performance out of your GS.

Save 6-8 dollars, and stop and fill up more often, because of decreased mileage and sluggishness causing you to actually use more gas, or pay 6-8 more per fill up, deal with it, and not worry about it. dude, if you are worried about 6-8 dollars per fill up, maybe you should sell your lexus and get a hybrid or at least a civic. If gas is causing you to stress out, maybe you are living beyond your means.

Think about it this way. How often do you buy lunch? Take your lunch to work, you save money from not buying lunch, and you can save an average of about 80-100 per month, which would ease the stress of buying gas, by you having more money to put gas in your car.

There's no reason to damage your car by putting cheaper gas in it just to save a few bucks. you can save a lot more in other places.

Default You Drive A LEXUS, Act Like It

I'm getting tired of these arguments. All the facts are already laid out. Do what you want, its your car, and its your money.

As for me, I'm still sorry they don't offer 93 octane in California. I hope gas prices rise past 5 bux per gallon, maybe that will help alleviate traffic!
