I'm having VERY irritable rattling noises anytime i go over the slightest bumps or potholes. I'd hate to replace all those things before arriving at the conclusion that it was due to brake components. Can you describe in more detail what kind of noises the car was making? I feel the rattle right underneath my seat when i'm driving. I also get a big 'clank' type noise after i stop at a red light and take off when it's green. It happens almost all of the time.

I'm in Queens and i'm down to having you drive my car and see if my rattle is similar to what you were experiencing.

I'm on a 98GS4 with 96K miles.

It's probably your brake fitting kit. The pads shift around when you've come to a stop.

Default Front Stabilizer Bar links may be damaged...

Check your front stablizer (sway) bar links (among other things), if damaged, they can also be a source of front end noise when going over bumps--it was for my car a few years back. May or may not be your issue, but worth investigating:

yeps thats what i finally realized the noise was coming from!!! i realized if i speed up over the same bumps with my brakes just applied alittle bit the noise is not present!, but i was wondering what exactly did you change? the little metal clips that hold in the brake pads? cause the dealer wants like 100$ or so for just the front shim kit o_O i dont want to spend 100$ for just 2 little metal clips, if im not sure replacing those clips would fix the problem? would really appreciate it if you told me what was replaced on the caliper pin? the 4 little clips that hold the pads in? or the 2 little pins that pushes the pads out?

You need Anti-rattle clips....(<<actual name)....I think they were $18 at lexus dealer. Pull your wheels off and check to see if they are missing....2 of mine were. If you can move your pads around by hand chances are you need to replace them.

Exclamation

These are some of the parts that I replaced. I got them from all from autozone. Now there is not one bit of rattle.

Brake Caliper Bolt/Pin Part Number: H15053 $9.99 x2

Brake Caliper Bushing/Pin Kit Part # H16086 $9.99

Brake Disc Hardware Kit - Front Part # H5911 $31.99

I also replaced brake pads and Rotors.

After that you are almost guaranteed to fix the problem.

look them up on their website. go with the part numbers and they will special order them for you. If you go to the store they sometimes tell you that you have to order those parts from lexus dealer.

good luck

Default Rattling noise coming from front tires

If you have a rattling noise coming from either side of the front tires and easy way to tell if it’s you brakes or a component attached to them is to apply your brakes while going over a bumpy surface and if the sound goes away then you know it’s them.
