Default So im faced with a dilemma

Ive had my 2000 gs3 for about 5 months now and i love it to death but it has a few problems with it and the most recent one is the piston rings need to be replaced and i cant really afford to that. so my problem do i sell my baby and get another or possibly upgrade to a gs4 or try to stick it out with the gs3? what would you do.

I would tell you to weigh your options (financially)…
1) Think about how much it will cost to replace the Piston Ring
2) How much would you get out of the GS3, if you were to sell it (obviously not as much as you spent on it)?
3) How much will the GS4 run you?
Then finally) Is the difference between repairing the GS3 and purchasing a fairly used GS4 worth it in your eyes?
I hope I explained myself clearly.

Note: I currently drive a 99 GS400, and my last car was a 1GS (I can’t see the performance between a 1st gen and 2nd gen GS3 being that drastic) and I can honestly say that I would never go back to a gs3, the V8 is worth every penny

Where in TN are you?

hmm...if u really really love it to death, then keep it. do whatever it takes to get it fixed....one step at a time.

but if you dont wanna spend too much time to get it fixed, well i guess....trade in is the answer.

ur 'love' soon be gone once you get a new one....

ORRR keep in mind that if you replace all your rings, you essentially have to rebuild the motor, which means pretty much a new motor

How many miles does it have on it that it needs rings? I've got 190K on my 99 GS3 and it uses no oil. I had a compression test run last summer and all cylinders were strong and well within guidelines.

Your 2000 may have had the legs run off of it. If that's the case sell it.

Good luck.
