To Buy or NOT! 98gs4
Hey guys,
Im not new to this forum considering I just sold my 98LS4 which was a great car and I loved it but I just got tired of the look. Now im in the market for either a GS4 or a is300. I found a gs4 that has 116k on it and even though I personally didnt see it because im 3hrs away from it my friend took a look at it and told me everything is fine on it except for a leather tear on the backseat and theres a lot of rock chips on the front bumper and the hood. It doesnt have nav and im not sure about HIDs but those dont bother me at all. Before I say how much I can get it for id like to know what you guys think its worth, its white on tan. My questions are, what do you think its worth, and is it a better buy than a newer IS300 with less or same amount of mileage? I need to hear some opinions from you guys first....
Thanks,
Aaron

For that year and mileage, I say the car is worth about $10k.
I really like the way the IS300 drives over the GS4, but boy will you get tired of the small space! If you haul people around, the GS4 is a no-brainer. Plus the torque is pretty nice. You dont feel underpowered, even when you have full passengers.

the car also needs new tires which doesnt really bother me bc ill probly get some 19's and lower it with some springs. The only thing bothering me is the fact that he said there are alot of rock chips on the hood and the bumper. Do u think thats an expensive paint job for those..500...1000?

I found another one with 140k miles for around 7-8k anyone think thats 2 much mileage for a gs? I think that either way i will lose 2-3k in a few years so why not spend less money up front and have more money for mods/invest in other stuff?

I had a carfax done and everything looks ok but he didn't get the 90k service done at lexus he went to a private mechanic. He also said he got the radiator replaced and the struts done 6 years ago. He says it doesnt shake at high speeds but you never know what people will say to sell something. Hes owned it for 8 yrs and before that it was a lease so im pretty sure all the previous services were done at lexus.

Price sounds good, with you coming from an LS you need to get the GS, you'll feel like you're in a go-kart in the IS ... If you want sportier/stiffer driving and less space go with the IS, If you want good amounts of interior space & good performance with much more "luxurious" ride quality take the GS
