Lexus GS reppin' at the Dustbowl 1000 road rally. Beware of Pics and stickers
Me and my brother did the Dustbowl 1000. http://www.dustballrally.com/ We were a little intimidated when we saw 3 or 4 Z06s, BMW M3 and M5, Evo's, 500 hp STI's and of course Porsches along with various other high performance vehicles. It was ton's of fun. You show up at the start not knowing where you are going just that it's a two day road rally. They give you a packet that gives you a clue to your next stop. You have to go from checkpoint to checkpoint getting clues to your next destination and answering questions along the way. It's a combination of Driver skill and figuring things out. After the first day we arrived at the final checkpoint in San Antonio 20 minutes before anyone else. At the end of the race one of the Porsche drivers said he had looked around at the start of the race sizing up the competition and he thought of us in our Lexus as going on a "Road Trip" but he said at the end of the 1st day he knew we were the ones to beat. Unfortunately there was no official winner because the Police pulled over a couple of STI's doing 140, then putting out an all points to pull over any car that had the Dustbowl rally stickers. Anyways the prizes were split 3 ways with us being one of the winners. Here's some pics:

Sweet! Road rallies are cool.
It's my lifelong dream to do a cross country Gumball 3000/Cannonball Run kinda rally in a Ferrari. If I did that and died, I would die a happy man.

Lexus Champion
hahaha, didn't look so happy. congrats, but why did they stop the rally? I mean it's the drivers problem if they're caught... though police are pulling them over for stickers, should've take out the stickers and continued....

That's the thing, the stickers took about and hour to pull off. Did you see all of them. This wasn't a pull over give you a ticket on your way they were taking people straight to jail. The judge ended up throwing out all of the cases even the STIs never got clocked going 140. The cop that saw them thought they were. (They were but they had jammers). One of the guys was a doctor and hired a good lawyer, the judge realized the problem with hauling people to jail just for having stickers on your car. The "official" rules state that you must obey all laws -wink-wink. So it is officially a gimmick rally.

Thanks for the kind words guys. It really was a lot of fun. This group does autocross events and they rent the local track from time to time, in fact autocross Dec. 9 and track day Dec. 15. That'll keep you sharp!
