If you ever had a nail stuck in your tire, how much did you get charged??

I've paid $20 once at a local tire shop. Some of it does depend on the type of tire and where the nail entered. On my 540 I had a nail but it entered right at the edge of the tread and side wall and I was told it could not be fixed. I ended up having to get new one.

I know they can't fix it if it's on the side but mine's right on the tread...and I think there is a belt there.

And I've never heard of this premium charge...glad I'm not the only one that thinks it's ridiculous. Because I have OEM wheels (G35 wheels)....well....kinda, sorta.

Nah it's all BS. Discount tire will patch anything for free. Try talking to their manager or if not goto another location. I've been to discount tire to patch tires plenty of times on aftermarket rims. They never charge me anything. You don't even have to purchase that tire from them for the free fix.

It shouldn't matter if it's an oem wheel or not, a tire is a tire.

I just recently had a tire patched and the shop didn't even charge me. I had never went to the shop previously either. other times I think I have paid $10-15

It's not a big ordeal either. It takes about 5 min, they patch it, then do a water test on the wheel to make sure no air bubbles form from the leak, and then you're good to go

i paid that much (in cdn dollars) at a local tire chain to get a 20" tire patched. however, it was because their repair work involved patching from the inside of the tire, which requires the tire to be dismounted from the wheel. being the size it was (ie. anything larger than 17"), there was an extra charge.

i know a lot of people opt for just an outside plug because it's quick and cheap and gets the job done, and i used to be that way too, but i had a plug on a repaired tire fail on me a long ago on a different car that left me stranded by the side of the road (couldn't get the spare on because a lug nut was seized on the stud) and i now figure that the extra expense is not the worth the grief should it go wrong

to me, a patch is something you do from the inside, and a plug is from the outside, but i read/hear a lot of people refer to a tire plug repair as a "patch" as well.
