Thanks, men. It works perfectly. Finally, my trunk lid can open fully and stand still.

I know this is about as easy as a DIY as you can get, but, this should be stickied. It is one of those things that many people may not know even exists.

Those of you who bought the car new, would you say the tension should have been on 3 from the get go?
Mine is still weaker than I would like and I do not even have a wing. I wonder if that is just a sign my bars are worn.

By contrast, my Camry's bars were so tight I had trouble getting them to 3 with both hands, and that was WITH a factory wing.

They get weaker over time.
