Your post is greatly appreciated, I need to replace 2 actuators w/closers if I can find them. Do you know of any classified having door latch/actuator w/ closers.

I just ordered 4 motors off ebay today. Less than $17 shipped. Gonna replace drivers and front passengers actuators as they've recently been giving me issues.

The easiest way to crack open the housing is by using a safety blade and a small hammer (like a model hammer). Line the blade up straight between the two halves of the housing and slightly tap until the blade goes in. Go all around the housing until you can separate the two halves. Any other way is too much of a pain to do.

Is $70 for a whole actuator a fair price? Seems a bit much considering people are buying the motors for just $17? Or am I mistaken and it was $17 for all 4?

Also, does it make a difference if I have a Viper 5901 installed with the remote start?

A new actuator is around $275 - $300 each. The motor by itself is around $6 on Ebay.

I have attached a picture from tag16c 's auction I do not think he would mind. When I look for the auction I start by typing in Mabuchi then look for that picture below that I posted. I hope this helps. I know that this DIY takes a lot of different turns and it can be hard to follow. I have about 10 motors as spares... I hope this helps.

I did my drivers side door lock actuator today. I took several pics. Would anyone be interested in a small write up with several pics? I would hate to invest time in a topic no one would be interested in. Any comments. Do you guys wanna see my pics? I have never done a DIY but I did it myself and it was not toooooo bad. Feedback will help motivate me. Thanks, B

Default door lock actuator

I had no problems getting the motor in the actuator and getting the door lock to work with inside locks, but the key fob will not lock the doors with the newly installed motor. Any suggestions would be greatly appreciated. For now I have just disconnected the passenger side door to use the key fob , otherwise it will not lock any of the doors with the newly installed motor. Anybody encountered thhis problem and a quick fix.

Thanks , bogie54
