actuator repair
If anyone can help out that would be great... My left rear passenger door unlocks and locks fine with the door locks and key fob but if it is locked and you try to open it from the inside it doesn't open. Then if you try to press the unlock button inside the car or use the key buttons it doesn't unlock or lock the car until after several clicks. Do I need a new actuator or is something loose between the door handle and door lock?
I had 2 door locking issues. Back right door had symptoms exactly like yours,
sometimes lock, sometimes not and eventually stopped working completely. It was the actuator motor. (Mabuchi, Ebay, about $4-5 delivered, just buy the pack of 4, you'll need them). The motor works only electronically so your manual lock must still work? The other door, front R, had a stretched cable (happens more often in hot weather areas) so it didn't work electronic or manual, dealer cost about $67. I replaced the motor at the same time, both doors worked fine. Good Luck Also white grease only all the gears inside the actuator case. be careful taking the case apart, cut only 1/8 " into case around perimeter then use only black silicone, no glue, when putting the case together, 24 hours to dry. Use blue locktite only on metal to metal screws. If your door handle feels loose at all check the 1 screw on door edge, handle level, behind plastic cover. Mine backed out completely, different door.

So, after reading through most of this thread it appears some people claim that other, cheaper, actuator assemblies can be used as direct replacements. Is there any truth to this? I've seen several comments, but the information provided is incorrect (i.e. the above post says Sienna actuators, when in fact they are not listed as a Sienna part in any parts supplier website I have found). I'll DIY just about anything but in my older age I'm lazy and more hesitant to crack open a 12 year old assembly and have my daily driver sit for another weekend while I source parts. I'd much rather buy the entire piece and replace it myself. Even at a cost for 230, I'm still saving $400.
That being said, are there legitimate, cheaper replacements for the assembly and if not, where is the best place to get the Lexus unit? I use to buy my stuff at Park Place, but their website has been down for a while.
Thanks!

Need directions for replacing rear door actuator
Do you have directions on how to repleace the rear door actuator for a lexus es 330. Dealer did my first one and it cost $526. I want to try this one. Any help would be appreciated.
Ive been waiting for someone to do a DIY writeup on the actuators TO INCLUDE pics...I think there have been a few quick writeups in the past, but it was hard to figure out what they were talking about without seeing the actual pictures of their progress (esp for non-DIY peeps like me)
So YES, please get motivated to do it

If you want to go used there are rebuilt units on Ebay with lifetime warrenties - http://www.ebay.com/sch/m.html?_odkw...at=0&_from=R40
http://www.ebay.com/itm/Lexus-GS300-Rear-Right-Door-Lock-Actuator-98-05-40-Refund-LIFETIME-WARRANTY-/251242850830?pt=Motors_Car_Truck_Parts_Accessories&fits=Model%3AGS300&hash=item3a7f3daa0e
when you can buy a new one for half of that?
http://www.toyotapart.com/69130-30110.html
and from sewell for even less?
69130 6913030110
ACTUATOR ASSEMBLY, REAR DOOR LOCK, (RH - RIGHT / PASSENGER SIDE) 01 $85.23
69140 6914030110
ACTUATOR ASSEMBLY, REAR DOOR LOCK, (LH - LEFT / DRIVER SIDE) 01 $85.23
maybe the lifetime warranty is enticing but the guy is ripping people hard. he offers $40 to return your old actuator then he buys a $5 motor and marks it up $105 bucks + shipping

I have edited this because there has been several questions about finding these motors on EBAY. The seller's name is tag16c and if you are looking for the motors a good place to start your search is "Mabuchi" the part number that we have been using FC 280PT-22125 If you go to Mabuchi website you can also see there are several other that will work but they want you buy quantities that are high, like 10K, there only like 30 cents a piece. I have attached a picture from tag16c 's auction I do not think he would mind. When I look for the auction I start by typing in Mabuchi then look for that picture below that I posted. I hope this helps. I know that this DIY takes a lot of different turns and it can be hard to follow. I have about 10 motors as spares... I hope this helps.
I did my drivers side door lock actuator today. I took several pics. Would anyone be interested in a small write up with several pics? I would hate to invest time in a topic no one would be interested in. Any comments. Do you guys wanna see my pics? I have never done a DIY but I did it myself and it was not toooooo bad. Feedback will help motivate me. Thanks, B

A thought, If you have doors that are self closing the actuator assembly unit is substantially more $$, hundreds . Didn't see this mentioned in any replies.
