Default Are plain Brembo rotors as good as oem and do new rotors need resurface?

The title says it.... 2 questions.

1.-Are these http://www.tirerack.com/brakes/brake...ar=&perfCode=P plain Brembo rotors as good in quality as oem?

2.-Would these new Brembos need to be resurfaced before install?

Not the type of answer your looking for but i got all 4 of my Slotted Brembos from Tirerack.. I didn't resurface them.. Maybe the plain is different but i've never heard of that? the slotted maybe better so the brakes can breathe better while driving and stopping.. Hope this helps..

Well, when I swapped out my stock rotors for slotted/drilled Brembos, and added SS brake lines, I found that . . . . nevermind.

C, why not go with stock? Looks?

nah-I'm just planning on doing my brakes myself soon with oem pads and I figured for not having the hassle of bringing my old rusty rotors to get turned, I'd get these new oem style brembos since they are pretty cheap and I'd have new shiny rotors for a while.

I'm afraid slotted or drilled rotors would possibly warp faster or chew up teh stock pads faster.

Right, so why not just go with stock?

On a related note, do you plan on doing a DIY on the brake pads? (Hint, hint).

they do not need resurfacing before install. Slotted and/or drilled will not warp just as long as they are not cheaply made ones. If they are genuine brembos, you should be fine.

no need for resurfacing. They should come ready to go from the factory.

Those rotors are good of a quality as OEM. . . the slotted and drilled will tend to eat through the pads a little. . . the only benefit of those is for those that do a lot of hard braking which will build some gases between the pad and the disc in which your brakes won't as effective. . . so unless your going to be doing a lot of hard braking all you will be getting those slotted and drilled for is looks

Get the slotted 2 piece Racingbrake rotors in my signature. They are lighter than stock rotors--thus helping unsprung weight and their specially vented structure improves cooling and thus delays brake fade.

Get them here :

http://www.racingbrake.com/GS_400_s/4381.htm

Ask the vendor for a better price as you are from CL.

I think you will be okay! I recommend Brembo over ANYTHING and I run it on both my Maserati and my Supra, just to give you an idea of Brembos research and development: Their biggest competitor didn't sell as much as Brembo spent in research & development in 2006. Just to put that into perspective, their second biggest competitor had sales totalling a little over $50,000,000 and that's less than Brembo spent in R&D. Brakes are something I never skimp on and I'm very picky about what I run, they've never let me down.

Regards,

Kevin

I just put the new rotors (brembos) and pads Akeebono (sp?) ceramic from TireRack on my 03 GS. They went on without any drama and they work very well. As for price, somebody said they cost 2X the OEM cost. Not here! Local Lexus dealership wanted $134 each for the rotors and $67.50 for the pads. Autozone wanted $60 each for the rotors (no name). I have used brembos before with excellent results. Slotted and drilled rotors are to allow the gas that builds up during braking to escape easily so your pads stay on the surface of the rotor. They have nothing to do with cooling! I agree they look sweet. As for resurfacing new rotors, I have never heard of this. Just clean them off real good with brake cleaner and you are good to go.

Quick Reply: Are plain Brembo rotors as good as oem and do new rotors need resurface?
