I'd go back to the dealer and slap them for charging you so much for a FILTER. I paid $10 for a new one.

yeah it was nestled between the downpipe and the under carriage cover so everytime he drove it it heated up the rat

My first place to look was the cabin air filter and sure enough the rodent was there wedged in my charcoal air filter. So I plucked it and few leaves from the filter and took a pic with my camera phone. I read somewhere awhile ago here in CL of another member who had a mouse in their filter but It still amazes me that I found that thing in there.
The little critter probably came sniffing around your car looking for one of them Dunkin Donuts you was eatin'

At my parents house in Tucson, Arizona they have about 2 acres of land. There are pack rats all over the place down there and around the whole city. They absolutely destroy cars. I had a car at their house and within 2 months of sitting the entire engine bay was filled with all kinds of ****.

I worked as a service advisor at a VW dealership in Tucson and I can remember 2 cars that got totaled out by insurance companies because of this. I can't even count how many cars came in with pack rat damage.

A good trick is to put rat poison in women's pantyhose. They are attracted to the nylon for some reason, that's why they chew through wiring (the nylon coating).
Some people have hung it from their firewall, others have just left it under their car.
There are some spray coatings you can spray on the engine but I have no idea if those work or not.

I had to look at the date of my post - almost a year ago and so far the dryer sheets and moth ***** underneath have worked. My GS smells slightly of dryer sheets, but its not bad considering the alternative. I have moth ***** under it and my CRV which sits beside it and the CRV brings in the moth ball smell but not the GS.

Not sure how long the critter was there before it started to smell. I sprayed Febreze on the filter and let it sit out for a bit. I guess that helped since I don't smell the odor anymore.
