Lexus Champion
70% all around, light blue SunGard.
I can't stand darker rear/lighter front windows. From the profile view, it just looks like a mistake (like a GS on 20s, but not lowered).
Also, I don't mind the ladies seeing in, since I am single and the car is fairly sharp. The car is garaged, so I really don't care about heat or UV rejection.

tint
Hi everybody. I'm thinking of tinting our car and wanted to ask if there was anything special to be aware of. Specifically, does the person doing the tint need to add felt or anything like that to prevent the tint from being scratched? I know that on bmw 3 series, they require felt to be added and so I wasn't sure if anything like that is required on the 2GS. I want to ask ahead of time so when we talk to the tint shop, I can ask them to do it if it's needed in case they don't already know to do it.

No special requirements, but since it is a higher end car you will want to get something that is good with electronics etc. Also...
A. Don't go with the cheapest quote
B. Ask people here who have had their tinted in your area (for where to go)
C. Don't get the cheapest tint they have
D. Decide if you want privacy or just heat rejection (for heat rejection I suggest 3M Crystaline)
E. Stay legal and also ask if they fix your tint if it gets messed up

b. see above
c. I'm going with Llumar ceramic either 50% all around, 40% all around, or 50% on driver and passenger window and 40% on rear window and rear passenger windows. It's the wife's car so she will decide.
d. both
e. it's not legal in cali to tint the driver and front passenger windows at all

I'm not an expert but I don't believe you're correct on this. Old school dye tint def fades but metallic and ceramic tint doesn't fade. Metallic tint used to be the best option but the metal particles would interfere with radio frequencies so it's not the best option with some electronics such as keyless go/entry. Ceramic tint typically is more expensive and in most cases offers better UV/heat rejection properties than a comparable metallic tint percentage but is radio frquency friendly.
