Default Help Please (Change License Plate Bulb 1999 GS)

I have two burnt out license plate bulbs and no idea how to access them. The “forum search” was not clear. Do I need to get to them via the inside trunk liner? Or can that piece of (approximately 10 inches) of plastic on the outside of the trunk (covering the trunk lock opening) be removed to get at them?

I have the dashboard (taillight) warning light on. After replacing all 8-bulbs, I never thought to check the License Plate Bulbs!!! I hope replacing them makes the dash light go away.

Thanks All.

just remove enough of those liner clips until you are comfortable with sticking your hand in there to take out the bulb. I didn't have to take out the whole liner.

I changed mine not too long ago and replaced the stock with some aftermarket bulbs. It was a pain in the a** to get those clips off. I used a flat tip screwdriver to help get them off w/o really bending the clips. I had to remove all the clips and take of the panel in order to replace my bulbs.

Ok, I replaced all the bulbs in the rear of the car (99 GS 400), disconnected the negative terminal on the battery for a while but I still have the dashboard warning light that won’t go away. Anybody know where the fuse is for that light? Or how to get rid of it?

I replaced the license plate bulbs with a #168. I just pulled down the inside trunk lid liner, and rotated the light socket(s) a quarter turn, just like the taillight socket, I did not need a clip remover????

Thanks

Refractor 5-LED 168/194 Wedge bulb (Xenon White)

I actually read about these bulbs in a thread here on CL. The person who made the post said that the bulbs illimunate like the ones on the 3rd Gen GS. He was right. My GS is silver and I have a chrome Lexus license plate frame and these bulbs make the rear of my car look even better.

Check your 3rd brakelight. it has 6 different bulbs, i can almost guarantee you one of them is out. it is hard to notice inside the housing.
