Default Just had Rod Millen 3.76 LSD Installed!

I bought the LSD about 3 months ago and have been too busy to get it installed. Well I took my car over to JPI, here in Dallas, yesterday and they did a fantastic job installing it. Thanks JPI . My first impressions are that the car seems to run in the power band much more now than stock. I have a lot more instantaneous power and going around turns while hammering it is just plain fun now. Power seemed to be a bid delayed with the stock differential. The 3.76 LSD is more instant on power. Cruising at 80MPH the car is running at 3100 RPM. Anyway, I though I would share my new mod with everyone here since you guys are the reason for me spending this money .

Congrats on the RMM piece. I opted for the TRD piece since I wanted just a LSD and the price factor. I will get my oomph from other mods.

price factor doesn't exist. get that trd unit installed correctly and the overall price is going to be the same as the supra tt lsd installed

Your right they are close in cost, but at the expense of the gearing. Is it true with the RMM that you reach 60 mph in 3rd gear compared to 2nd gear for the TRD?

I loved the 3.76 gear set as far as acceleration and getting off the line...but I couldn't justify losing the 3-4mpg the way I normally drive. I'll get the TRD unit one of these days...especially now that I found a Toyota master tech that can do the install for me on his own time

Congrats on the new mod! This mod is a must if you own a 400/430. Now all you need is the PI TC to really maximize the performance of the car My only regret is I wish I would have done it when I bought the car.

p.s. I remember taking Tmf 2004 and a few of the guys at bluelex's get together for a ride and I vividly remember the look of excitement on their faces from launch burning rubber to about 100 miles. Congrats again!!

not sure about the 0-60 since i don't do that a lot. if anything i care about rolling pull and 1/4. on races, you hardly just stop at 60

Comgrats on the mod...you are now quicker than a stock GS4. I have the rmm3.76 on mine and its a real improvement over the oem gearing. Just watch out for wet / snow / ice conditions....hit the gas too hard and you can get sideways real fast or even do a 360 when vsc is off in bad weather.

Yes it's true, you hit third just a few ticks before 60 mph, but when you add the high stall TQ and a quick shifting valve body mod, it helps. My best 0 - 60 was 5.2 sec.

I don't think that's a bad real world time and beyond 60mph, I'll still continue to be pulling away. It's like rominl commented, on the street it's not like you would hit 60mph and then just let off. I'm good until 135mph, hopefully whoever I would race will be far behind by then.

And before any newbies step in with a response quoting a 5.9 sec magazine time for a stocker GS, I challenge them to prove it using a g-tech in real world conditions. What the mags report and what an everyday Joe off the street can do are two different things. Oh well that's another topic.

Wow 5.2 seconds to 60 is very impressive.
