the Technique about gate shifting on 430

since the new 430 doesn't come with Eshift, what is the best method to compete offline? I can't really do powerbrake now because of my newly installed Torque converter, so i am wondering would the Gate shifting be faster than just floor it on D drive?
to my Understanding, you shift it to 2 when in offline, and go from there rite? when you are switching the gears up , do you have to let lose your pedal? or you can just floor it all the way while gate shifting?
what do you guys think? of course the power button is always on. and VSC off.
